Yard Work & Q-Tip

I am supposed to be outside doing yard work but I grabbed my camera instead and snapped a few pics.

My Boys..can’t you tell they are just thrilled to have their pictures taken. Nakoa the little one, tolerates it at least ..I am sure Nate is thinking “why is she taking pics instead of raking.” Nakana, the tall boy, says to me ” Pictures just aren’t our thing”! I replied “great because yard work is not my thing!” heehee..off I went to take some pics of my beautiful cat Q- Tip…

Koa lost 2 teeth this morning…

Q-tip was barely tolerating me at 1st…

Then he decided he loved the attention and would pull some supermodel poses…

Then he stuck out his tounge and ran away!..haha

My Dog Children =)…

Well …relating to my last post..I have still not taken pics of my human children so I thought i would start with my dog children =)

Braddah & Roxy  are Olde English Bulldogges..very different from the short pudgy English Bulldogs..they are taller, more athletic and have very few health issues. Although they consume a LOT of my time..I adore them!

Braddah is 67 pounds way to strong for his own good. He is still a puppy and I would say not the brightest boy! Roxy is such a sweet, intelligent girl. Braddah irritates her to no end and she usually just walks away but when she gets mad she can take him down in a second! My kind of girl. Aren’t they so cute??  =)

My dog child thinks he is a human…

Sweet Roxy…

Tugging on poor Roxy’s ear…

Dj or Roller Derby?…

Recently I have found myself twittering quite a bit about what I want to be when I grow up!! haha..While I was at the Bridal Expo in Honolulu I had the most awesome dj’s/ entertainers right around the corner from my booth. Every time I heard the music get loud I would wander over to see what they were up too. You could totally tell that they really,  truly enjoyed even loved what they do! They danced and entertained all of the vendors & guest at the expo..They loved having an audience and we were blown away by their crazy, outrageous dance moves. They were awesome..I decided that day that I should be a dj because it just looks like so much fun! Then the realization came to me…I can’t dance! So onto a new idea.. Roller Derby! I love to roller skate..I am pretty tough..well sort of..I doubt I would wear fishnets and a miniskirt or get tattoos but hey I am sure there are other costumes.. Then I remembered..I am a mom and I am 30 something..hmm doubt I could be a roller derby girl..but it sounded fun in my head.

I know what draws me to these kind of people..they love what they do! They adore it, cant get enough of it!

Funny thing about all of my crazy ideas is that I already love what I do..I think that I have one of the best jobs on the planet. I get to connect with people on the most exciting, happiest day of their lives just as a new journey for them is about to begin. I get to be a part of peoples memories. I recently attended a funeral of a close family friends father. I had photographed this friends wedding a while back and her brothers a few year prior to hers. When my husband and I arrived at the funeral we were handed a program and on the cover was a photo that I had snapped of my friends father at her brothers wedding. He was smiling and holding up a shaka to my lens. I cried. I felt so honored to have been part of this persons life & captured memories for his family.

I dont share many images of my family on my blog..sadly as a busy mom I have let life get in the way..I very rarely take pictures of my family. In fact We have never had family portraits taken! Not that it hasn’t been offered..I am just always too busy. So I have decided to make it a priority to take pics of my family this year.

I have had a wonderful 2009 and am looking forward to 2010. Thank you to all my clients, friends & family for appreciating me. I have an amazing career that I adore and a beautiful family that puts up with my craziness. I announced to my family today that I wanted to be a roller derby girl and my husband just shook his head, chuckled and walked away. Priceless!

What I really want to be is a person that loves what she does: a mother, wife & memory keeper.. I think that I am there. I love it, adore it, can’t get enough.

James & Sarah :: Makena, Maui Wedding Photography

I first spoke with James & Sarah just a few months before their wedding. As we chatted over the phone they mentioned that they really love photography. I was super excited to work with them! They tied the knot on a beautiful, sunny morning in Makena. When I arrived Della of Dellables was there setting up a vibrant flower circle for James and Sarah to stand in and say their vows. The bouquet, also made by Della, was simply gorgeous..bright yellows and oranges..my favorite colors! Lori Lawrence of Tropical Maui Weddings coordinated everything perfectly..the morning went as planned and a beautiful ceremony began.

Reverend Laki blew the conch shell, the harpist strummed and the procession started. When I first saw Sarah I knew that she had an amazing sense of style…she was wearing the most adorable vintage gown with a Tiffany blue sash, Christian Louboutin sandals, a birdcage veil and had gorgeous sparkles encircling her neck and wrist. She was stunning. James smiled as his beautiful bride walked toward him and stepped in the flower circle beside him. They had a lovely ceremony with a few laughs and tears as their family stood around them and shared in their joy. You could see in James and Sarah’s eyes how much they adored each other.

After the ceremony we started with a few portraits at Makena Cove then we went on a photo taking cruise around the island :) it was so much fun! We ended up in Kihei, Iao Valley & Old Wailuku Town.

We met up a few days later at Ironwoods Beach in Kapalua for a Trash the Dress Session. I had such an amazing time working with these two! They were so much fun to photograph, naturals in front of the camera. I had so many images to share from the day that I decided to share them in slide show form. Thanks so much James & Sarah for allowing me to capture your memories. I felt honored to be a part of your day. Much thanks to Jana for all her help.
