Aloha

Welcome to Aihara Visuals Blog. Here I share my most recent work. I am Kimberlee Aihara and I live in Maui, Hawaii. I am a wedding and portrait photographer as well as a wife and mother. Living in Hawaii we have some of the most stunning locations for photography. My inspiration for photography comes from many sources...families, children, love, laughter, amazing sunsets, beautiful light. I love the look between a bride and groom when they are pronounced "Man and Wife", a mothers exasperated face when her 2 year old child just can't sit still for a portrait, a child's sheer joy in the sand and water at the beach...I am inspired by people and all of their emotions and expressions. I love to see a couples silhouette in the warm Maui sunset. These are all memories that need to be captured and not forgotten. There is nothing better and more fulfilling then doing something you love. Photography is not my job it’s my passion! I want this to show through in my work..

Thank you for visiting my blog.

Aloha, Kimberlee

Mark & Tina ~ South Maluaka Beach, Wailea

We met up with Mark and Tina at South Maluaka Beach in Wailea. They were married just before sunset on Sunday evening. They had an intimate beach ceremony where the coordinater, myself and Amanda were the only guests. It was a lovely ceremony. The weather was beautiful, the sunset colorful. Mark and Tina were great to work with. Thank you two for having us capture your special day. We wish you much happiness…

I love this shot that Amanda caught. Mark was waiting for Tina to come around the corner…

Dan & Kahea ~ Olowalu Plantation House, Lahaina

I was privileged to work with Dan, Kahea and their families for two days. I attended their rehearsal dinner on Friday evening at Gerard’s Restaurant in Lahaina and on Saturday they tied the knot at Olowalu Plantation House. What an amazing location!! I had my dream team with me to help! Joanna came along as well as a new assistant Lacey. We had a blast shooting this wedding. It was awesome to have good helpers! Kahea was born and raised in the islands but moved to the mainland where she met Dan. They came home to the islands to get married. They had a wonderful reception right on the grounds with yummy Hawaiian food. it was a wonderful celebration of their love with a great group of family and friends. Congratulations Dan and Kahea! We wish you the best in your new adventures as husband and wife…

Chad & Sarah ~ South Maluaka Beach, Wailea

Chad and Sarah were married on Thursday, August 21st at South Maluaka Beach in beautiful Wailea. They have such a sweet story. I am honored that I was able to capture their day and tell there love story. They told us that they have been together for 4 years and decided on Hawaii for a romantic wedding with just the two of them. They told no one. Chad told Sarah it would happen soon but he didn’t tell her the date time or place. Every week her anticipation grew as Chad would bring home something else that they needed for a wedding. Sarah picked out a dress which she hid in Chad’s closet so no one would know. Chad planned everything. One morning Chad woke Sarah up at 4am and said “get your things… We are leaving today!” They arrived in Maui and were married the next day. You could see their excitement as the ceremony approached. Sarah kept saying “We are getting married!” They are so in love and it really showed through in their photos. They were natural and at ease in front of the camera and it was a joy to capture them. Thank you Chad and Sarah for having us be a part of your day. Congratulations! I hope that you are having a blast on the rest of your Maui adventures…

I am so excited to be working with a new assistant and 2nd shooter. She captured some amazing moments and gorgeous details of the day. Her name is Amanda and I hope to be sharing more of her images in the future. Thanks Amanda for all your help! She captured the next 4 images…

Enjoying the scenery…

Maui

I love reflections…I think I am a bit obsessed with them :)..

I could not believe what a brilliant sunset we had! The colors were so intense and beautiful…

Colin & Carrie ~ Hana, Maui

Colin and Carrie were married in beautiful Hana, Maui yesterday evening. Nate and I drove out yesterday afternoon…the drive to Hana is quite an adventure! Colin & Carrie had a gorgeous ceremony on a bluff overlooking the ocean. What an awesome location! Hana is definitely one of my favorite places on Maui. Amazingly it did not rain. Thank you guys for letting us capture your special day….

Robert & Victoria ~ Haaula, Hawaii

I was honored to spend the day with Robert and Victoria on the beautiful East side of the island of Oahu. Robert and Victoria tied the knot on the very popular day, 8-8-08. They were married at a private home in Haaula overlooking the ocean. Although it was a bit windy the day turned out lovely. I truly enjoyed working with these two and their families. They were such a kind and generous group. They truly made us feel welcome. Thank you Robert and Victoria for having us be a part of your special day. We wish you two much happiness together…

Waikiki & The Red Corvette…

I flew over to Honolulu on 8-8-08 for Robert & Victoria’s wedding. I brought Nate along to be my assistant and driver :)…whenever we travel and have to rent a car I always reserve the boring economy cars but Nate on the other hand usually has a different plan…he loves to rent outrageous cars!  Well this time he went for a 2009 red convertible Corvette. It was brand new…had only 7 miles on it. Wow! What a fun car…We cruised around Waikiki for a few hours before we headed off to work. Nate said he felt like Batman! Haha…

Nate aka “Batman”

I even let Nate take a photo of me for  a change :)…

We stopped at Ala Moana Beach Park for some photos….

The best part of being in a convertible to me is having the top down so I can take fun city photos!…

Claude & Val’s 40th Anniversary…

Claude and Valerie are celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary this weekend. I was honored to capture some fun family photos for them. My brother Jason married their daughter Charme’ so we are all family :). We met up at Baldwin Beach in Paia on Maui’s North shore. I love this location in the morning because the water and sky are such a vibrant blue. It was a bit windy but we just went with it and had a blast…

Hawaii Bridal Expo…finally!…

I finally found the time to post about my weekend. It was a whirlwind of activity…non-stop! The superferry was quite an adventure. The ride going over was very smooth and enjoyable. On the way back it was quite bumpy…thanks to Dramamine I did not get seasick. The expo was awesome. The July Expo is generally smaller than the January but there were still quite a few vendors and lots of brides. It went by really fast. I was very pleased with how my booth turned out. The wood flooring looked great! I got quite a few nice compliments on it :) Honolulu is a fun city but very crowded. I am happy to be back to peaceful Maui….

Leaving Maui. I was on the back of the boat…

Hawaii Superferry Day…

Today is the day! We are leaving for the Honolulu Wedding Expo. The fun part about this ( I hope) is that will will be going to Oahu on the Superferry. I hear the ride can be a bit rough depending on the weather…I hope I don’t get seasick! I should have some fun pictures of our adventure to share tomorrow so check back later.

We will be at booth # 625….the same as last year. Stop by and see us if you are in the area.
